Letter from the Chairperson
Greetings Delegates,
A warm and enthusiastic welcome to the third iteration of the Shishukunj NC MUN! It is truly an honor to serve as your Chairperson for the World Trade Organisation.
My name is Siya Nagar, an 11th grader, and I have opted for humanities as my mainstream subject, along with legal studies. My interests in politics, diplomacy, painting, and poetry have deepened my appreciation for the nuances of human interaction and the power of thoughtful discourse. Beyond the realm of debate, you might find me engrossed in the captivating plots of crime and thriller movies or perhaps quoting a line or two from Suits.
I am genuinely thrilled to be a part of this esteemed bureau and committee. I believe with rigorous analysis, and a spirit of collaboration, we can navigate through complexities and strive towards meaningful solutions.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or simply to connect. Remember, MUNs are not just about debate; they are also about building bridges and fostering understanding. I am here to facilitate a productive and enriching experience for each and every one of you.
I am confident that this session will be marked by insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and a shared commitment to making a difference. I eagerly look forward to embarking on this intellectual journey with you all.
See you soon!
Siya Nagar
Chairperson
The Economic and Social Council
Committee Description
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is a key UN body that promotes economic and social development worldwide. As a committee, ECOSOC brings together delegates to discuss pressing global issues, foster international cooperation, and develop solutions to complex challenges. With a broad mandate covering sustainable development, poverty eradication, and human rights, ECOSOC plays a vital role in shaping global policies and initiatives. In this committee, delegates will engage in dynamic discussions, share perspectives, and work collaboratively to address the economic and social impact of Tariff wars.
Agenda Description
Tariff wars significantly impact a country's social and economic welfare. They're economic conflicts, not armed ones, where nations impose taxes on each other's exports due to trade disagreements or geopolitical tensions. The goal is to disrupt the other country's economy. Tariff wars affect GDP, cause unemployment, inflation, and income inequality, and disrupt global trade and supply chains, ultimately harming economic welfare and stability. This has far-reaching consequences for nations and the global economy today.
