Letter from the Chairperson
Namaste Delegates,
It is an honour to welcome you to the UNESCO Committee at the Shishukunj NC MUN 2026. When I attended my first Model United Nations conference, I was understandably nervous. Despite carrying a binder full of research, I found myself filled with curiosity and eager to learn from the experience.
At my first committee session, I worried whether anyone would truly listen to my ideas. I soon realised that MUN is not just about winning debates; it is about developing original ideas, thinking innovatively, and building lifelong friendships.
This year, we are talking about something that affects us all: the food we see on our screens and the food we eat at school. As UNESCO delegates, it is even more important that you consider what we eat and how our culture and schools shape who we become.
I do not want you to be just speakers. The UNESCO Committee is here to help you grow as leaders while enjoying the experience. I am here to help you, so please do not hesitate to ask me if you need anything. Let us make this an engaging and memorable committee session for everyone.

COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1945, UNESCO is an internationally recognised specialised agency of the United Nations. The primary goal of UNESCO is to protect all forms of cultural and natural heritage globally while promoting sustainable development. UNESCO addresses global challenges through four key areas: education, the environment, social cohesion, and technology. In addition to these goals, UNESCO also offers its member states essential support services. These include establishing universal norms and standards, providing tools for international cooperation, generating information to support public policymaking, and connecting heritage sites and institutions recognised by UNESCO.
AGENDA DESCRIPTION
There has been a significant increase in the marketing of junk food to children through deceptive advertising and online platforms across the world. This trend affects not only children's health but also cultural food heritage and students' attention spans. UNESCO aims to strengthen media literacy, curb harmful marketing practices, and promote school cafeterias that provide fresh and nutritious food. UNESCO aims to shape a future where all students are empowered to make healthy, sustainable choices.
